Animation: "Acorns" by Gemma Roberts & Team

Acorns RTS Award from the Ffresh Festival at Glyndwr University in Wrexham, 22/02/2013

Acorns was awarded first prize from a total of 10 nominated animated short films from The University of Wales, Newport, and University of Glamorgan in the Animation category for The Royal Television Society Wales Centre 2012. The award was presented at the 10th Ffresh Festival (Student Moving Image Festival of Wales) at Glyndwr University in Wrexham 22nd February 2013.

The RTS Jury had this to say about Acorns:

Acorns was also very accomplished and felt a very complete animation project. It was classy, enchanting and sophisticated, providing a captivating representation of the seasons through colour and it also featured a stunning piano score. Overall, Jury Members were unanimously impressed by its sophistication and high quality.

The first prize winner in each category will also be submitted for judging at the UK final of the RTS Student Television Awards, to be held in London during April.

"Best Animation and "Best Overall Film" Award at the Newport Animation Graduate Showcase Awards 13/06/2012

Acorns is proud winner of the Best Animation and Best Overall Film awards and was presented with an illustration from Bristol-based Martha Ford from Aardman as a prize. Acorns was previously shortlisted into the top 11 graduate films of Newport's Animation class of 2012 as voted by fellow Animation students.
Acorns was also nominated for Best Art Direction along with Catharsis by Claire Spiller and the winner: Babbit by Jessica Kate Leslau.
